Jesus but ...

Be like Jesus. 

Cool. I can raise the dead?

Don’t be silly. But you can be like Jesus. 

Ok, so I can lay hands on people and heal them.

No. Just be like Jesus. 

​What about walking on water, or calming the storm? 

No. And you can't feed thousands of people with five loaves and two fish, either. You just need to be like Jesus.

Jesus said He was one with God, that He was God. That’s how He did all that stuff - through His innate connection with God. And He told us (his disciples) that, in the same way, we are also one with God - we have that same connection with the Divine that Jesus did! So to be like Jesus is really to be like God.

Well, don’t be that much like Jesus, because that would be blasphemy. Be like Jesus, but don't be like God. 

So we should be like Jesus without being like God. Do we just ignore what Jesus said about us having  the same connection to God that Jesus did? 

Jesus’ connection to God was special.

So we are to be Jesus - with limits, then? Jesus without the Divine connection? 

You got it!  Be mostly like Jesus, in a way that’s reasonable for ordinary people who aren’t one with God. 

But then are we really being like Jesus?
