All my growing up, Christmas Day was very full. It gathered food, presents, and people like a snowball gathers snow. And coming from a large family, Rod’s Christmas Day celebration was similar to mine - only he gathered a bigger snowball by the end of the day.

You might wonder how a national holiday could possible be a secondary loss. They roll around every year, right when they’re supposed to.
Yeah, like a steamroller.
Rod died six days before Thanksgiving and 10 days before we were supposed to leave on a trip to Israel, both of which we talked about in the hospital just two days before he died. We didn't even talk about Thanksgiving.
